I tend to get cramps in my adductors when pushing hard on the bike. If not on the bike, then soon after on the run. I am doing many things to try to minimize this with supplements, hydration, training, and compression. I searched online for a pair of long compression tri shorts. I have raced in 2XU tri shorts in the past and liked the way they reached nearly to my knee and provided a bit of support. But, they are a few years old now so it seemed time to look for something new for my next race. I found that CEP, known for medical compression, offered a long tri short. After measuring my thigh, I ordered a pair and they arrived promptly. My first impression was that the fabric wasn’t that comfortable–sort of scratchy and stiff. I wore them anyway and forgot about that right away. (After the first wash, I didn’t notice this scratchiness again.) The fit is very snug around my lower thigh, although it feels like there is a bit of a bind right above my knee. I thought there was a band there, but there isn’t. Is it my muscle shape? They have a very minimal pad, but it works quite well and I had no discomfort there during a 80+ mile ride. I’ve given them another long ride test and no cramping so far and they feel pretty good. Of course, the real test will be the race!
